Diveheads: information from divers like you

Here we are then! From today Diveheads is online: a website with information about dive holiday destinations. Just like all the others? No, not at all. Diveheads is not trying to sell you a holiday. And we don’t advertise for diving holiday companies. On Diveheads we offer a platform for divers to share their travel experiences. Here you will find unembellished information, from divers like you.

Contributions
Currently, we offer around 50 descriptions of destinations world wide. From Ponta do Ouro, via Cozumel to L’Estartit. Have you been somewhere? Let your opinion be heard and place a response. Do you think you know more or better? Or do you know of a place we don’t yet have? Write a description and email it to info@diveheads.com or use the form in the tab to the right.

We will keep on developing
Diveheads is online, but we are a long way from finished. The design, the techniques, the texts: all the kinks will be ironed out in days to come. And we will continue to develop this website. For example, we will be adding climate info and dive schools in the not too distant future. Keep an eye on Diveheads!

Playa del Coco

Touristic hotspot for water sports and nightlife

Playa del Coco lies on a horseshoe-shaped bay, in which any thinkable water sport can be practised. Of all possibilities, the diving tourism is the most popular.

About Playa del Coco
One of the biggest reasons for the popularity of this beach in Guanacaste, is its accessibility. Whereas many places in Costa Rica are difficult to reach, Playa del Coco is close to an international airport (Liberia) and has paved roads with bus services from San Jose. The hills are filled with hotels and shacks and at night there is plenty going on in the little town.

Diving at Playa del Coco

Actually there is much to be found in this area: from the smallest worms and sea horses to manta rays and whale sharks. Between December and May you have a big chance to observe the migration of these sharks. Hammer sharks and white-tip sharks are abundant in these waters. At the dive spot San Pedrillo, also known as ‘Big Scare’ you can even see bull sharks, one of the three most dangerous and aggressive shark species. In the waters around Playa del Coco you should not be surprised to see a huge school of fish completely blocking the sunlight, or to hear the song of a whale. You can do some wreck diving at the spot Tortuga and do some spectacular drift dives at The Point or Northwest Drift.

Playa del Coco in short
A guarantee for (un)expected encounters with a large number of different sea inhabitants. And a nightlife to top it off.
