Idyllic, pristine and out-of-the-way island

Maratua is an out of the way island off the coast of Borneo. You have to make a little effort to get here, but the moment you set foot on the island you feel as though you are in paradise.

About Maratua
About 50 km from Borneo lies the small island of Maratua. Easy to get to it is not. If you don’t live in the area, then expect an inland flight or two and a three hour boat trip. You wouldn’t do this trip for nothing. You will find an idyllic and largely ignored island with long white sandy beaches and palm trees.

Diving Maratua
The reefs surrounding the island are not stressed by an over abundance of scuba diving tourism. They are also in optimum condition. Directly off the coast is plenty to enjoy. The dive spots further out are accessible by speed boat. The local divers have good knowledge of the area.
