Alor

Plankton-rich water creates a underwater paradise.

The Alor Archipelago is very difficult to reach. Therefore, tourism on this inhospitable piece of land is still pretty under developed. Diving occurs primarily from live aboards.

About Alor
Alor is an archipelago to the north of Timor. The road over land to the dive spots is very difficult but especially interesting. The trip takes in hilly terrain, where isolated tribes each have their own culture and language. The dive spots are ultimately reached by motor boat. The erratic coastline makes navigation difficult. The area can be experienced mainly by live aboard.

Diving Alor
The waters near Alor are in the marginal area between the cold Sawu Sea and the tropical Bandu Sea. The currents are unpredictable and treacherous, the thermoclines are numerous. The water is plankton-rich and this can affect the visibility. Difficult for divers, but these conditions ensure that the marine life is excessive. Octopi, sharks, schools of green hump head parrot fish, barracudas and surgeon fish: it is a sight for sore eyes. You dive on beautiful fringe reefs and along reef walls covered with gorgons and soft corals.
