June to September is the best time to dive the Mediterranean Sea. The average temperature in this period is 25ºC (77ºF) and the wind is moderate. It is however possible to dive every day of the year. The only spoilers are rain and wind - which will decrease visibility - and spring has the most of both. |

Charming place with boat and shore diving possibilities
L’Escala is a less touristy alternative to L’Estartit. It lies further out than the Medes Islands, but you can do great shore dives.
About L’Escala
L’Escala is an old fishing village. These days tourism is a major source of income, but every evening the fishermen still launch their boats. They fish using traditional methods, with lanterns and long nets.
Diving L’Escala
Boats regularly depart from L’Escala to the Medes Islands (Iles Medes). Contrary to 'big brother' L’Estartit, you can enjoy perfectly good shore dives from here.
