Komodo

World class diving surrounding the land of the Komodo dragon

The Komodo Archipelago is bone-dry and desolate. Life underwater is in stark contrast to life above. The biodiversity is absolutely immense.

Maratua

Idyllic, pristine and out-of-the-way island

Maratua is an out of the way island off the coast of Borneo. You have to make a little effort to get here, but the moment you set foot on the island you feel as though you are in paradise.

Bali

The most touristy island of Indonesia

The island of Bali is very touristy and many reefs near the coast are ruined. The dive spots which lie further out to sea will enchant even the most spoilt diver.

Coral Bay

Village at the south end of Ningaloo Reef

From Coral Bay the most astonishing dive spots in the southern part of the Ningaloo reef are within hand’s reach.

Ningaloo Reef

The longest fringing reef in the world

The Ningaloo reef is with regards to size and fame a bit dwarfed by the Great Barrier Reef at the other side of Australia, but it certainly is not less beautiful.

Exmouth

Blossoming tourist destination at Ningaloo Reef

From Exmouth you can reach many beautiful dive spots in the northern part of Ningaloo marine park.

Christmas Island

Distant atoll with spectacular drop-offs

Christmas Island lies 225 miles off the coast of Java, but belongs to Australia. The spectacular natural beauty on and around this remote island will astonish you.

Cocos Islands

Paradisiacal dive spots around a remote coral atoll

Cocos Islands or Keeling Islands: this is the name of a diving paradise off the coast of Java. Cocos offers a wide variety of diving possibilities on a small area.

Unspoilt reefs and luxury resorts surrounding a tiny village

Safaga is a small harbour town, 50km north of Hurghada. The reefs along the coast are unspoilt and brimming with marine life.

About Safaga
In the 1990’s diving around Safaga occurred only from live-aboards and dive camps near Marsa Alam. These days you can stay in one of the many resorts, spread along the road to Marsa Wadi Lahami, which often have their own private beaches. The village has a unique feel, meaning there is “little to do”. There is no nightlife apart from the beach parties organised by divers and surfers. The seawater near Safaga is more enriched with minerals than elsewhere, therefore, enabling Safaga to advertise itself as a “health resort”. It is also possible to take a ferry to Jordan and Saudi Arabia from here.

Diving Safaga
According to many, one can compare diving around Safaga with diving in Sharm el-Sheikh towards the beginning of the 1970’s: healthy coral, huge fish, schools of pelagic fish and many brightly coloured reef fish. Visibility is fantastic. The reefs near Safaga remain in good condition. The development of the town has not caused any damage and the coral has had little effect from bleaching. There are many diveable wrecks lying around. Turtles and sharks abound, especially a little further out from the shore. The reefs to the east of Safaga island lie on the windward side. Day boats will only go there on calm days.

Great Excursion Possibilities
A bonus for tourists: Luxor is only 220km away. Here you can easily combine a diving holiday with a visit to Ancient Egypt. An excursion to the granite mines of Mons Claudinus is also worth the effort. Surfers, too, will find plenty of action.

Safaga Summary
Magnificent destination for a beach holiday on and around the resort. Top dive spots: Panorama Reef and Abu Gafan.
