Fernando de Noronha
Fernando de Noronha is an archipelago in the northeast of Brazil, at about 200 miles from the coast. It is the best diving spot of Brazil and is famed by the Brazilians for its average water temperature of 82 degrees Fahrenheit, just as the temperature above the water.

Untouched beauty
The archipelago consists of 19 islands. The main island, Noronha, measures only 6 by 4.5 miles and counts about 2000 inhabitants. There is a limit to the number to tourists that are allowed to arrive per day, namely 500. The progressive, daily eco-tax makes sure that most tourist do not stay longer than 1 to 2 weeks. The island is a succession of beautiful beaches and wonderful views.
Endless diving possibilities
There are 2 diving organisations where you can take lessons, or expeditions under supervision of a dive master: Atlantis and Noronha Divers. The dives are always from a boat, and there are expeditions in the morning and in the afternoon. Fernando de Noronha has some twenty spectacular dive spots, amongst which caverns, wrecks and special rock formations. On average the visibility is from 80 to 160 feet, enabling you to see the giant turtles, rays, wild dolphins and, with some luck, reef sharks really easily.
Pousadas Brazilian Bed and Breakfast
You can reach Fernando de Noronha by plane from Recife or Natal. You can choose to find your accommodations by yourself, or buy a package through Káritas Turismo. This is recommended, first because almost nobody speaks English on the island and second because the package guarantees dives in the morning. Most of the accommodations are simple bed and breakfasts: pousadas. The service is mostly splendid, the prices low and the accommodation simple. In the last years some more luxurious hotels have been built. All transport is either by foot or by buggy. You can rent these for little money.
