About Komodo
The Komodo dragon is world famous. These huge lizards live on an island that matches their prehistoric appearance: extremely dry, rocky and – apart from thorn bushes and the odd palm – barren. In order to protect this unique reptile and its environment, the Komodo National Park was formed and the archipelago is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Komodo can be reached by daytrip from Labuan Baya and by live aboard from Bali.

About 50 km from Borneo lies the small island of Maratua. Easy to get to it is not. If you don’t live in the area, then expect an inland flight or two and a three hour boat trip. You wouldn’t do this trip for nothing. You will find an idyllic and largely ignored island with long white sandy beaches and palm trees.

About Coral Bay
At the south end of the Ningaloo Reef lies Coral Bay. The Ningaloo reef is here the closest to the coast, at several hundred meters distance, and so the village is an excellent starting place to visit the dive spots at Ningaloo Reef. Coral Bay consists of a hand’s full of houses, some shops, restaurants and the Ningaloo Reef Resort.

About Cocos Islands
The Cocos Islands, not to be confused with Cocos Island near Costa Rica, consist of 27 islands with a total surface of less than 6 square miles. In 1826 Javanese and Sumatran seamen and seawoman arrived here. In 1984 the people of the islands chose to be part of Australia. The Malaysian people live on the Home-island, the Australians on West Island. The total number of inhabitants is around 600 people. Cocos inspired Charles Darwin to shape his theory about the origin of coral atolls.
