About Tobago
Tobago is part of the Lesser Antilles and, together with Trinidad, makes up the country aptly named Trinidad and Tobago. The crime in Trinidad gives the wrong impression: the crime rates are no higher in Tobago than the Western average. This tiny volcanic island consists mainly of tropical rainforest. Inland it is quite hilly. All along the erratic coastline you will encounter idyllic bays with sandy beaches.

About Playa Giron
Playa Giron is a beach on the eastern side of the Bay of Pigs and lies about 114km from Havana. Cruising yachts are forbidden on the entire Bay of Pigs, a legacy from the invasion of 1961. With a population of about 100 residents, most of whom work in and around the resort hotels, Playa Giron is a small resort.

At the far southeast of Mexico on the peninsula Yucatán lies Cancún: until 1950 an insignificant fishing town, nowadays a famous party town. The Mexican government and international investors have made Cancún into a tourist town. Cancún nowadays is visited yearly by three million tourists, mainly from the United States. The city is also a good base to explore the peninsula of Yucatán. Near the coast are the northern coral reefs of the Caribbean Sea.

About Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen, in short Playa, has been the point of departure for boats to Cozumel for centuries. The former fishers’ village for that matter has been ‘discovered’ by tourists on their way to that island. The resort is a quieter and more distinguished alternative for Cancun. The beach is wider and the sea calmer. Many resorts maintain an all-inclusive formula. Playa has a shopping street and some cosy restaurants, but most tourists stay the on and around their resort for the whole of their vacation.

Bonaire is with about 11,000 inhabitants much less populated than its larger brother Curaçao. The island gives the good example concerning nature conservancy: the whole island is protected area. Divers pay an entrance contribution and are to attend an orientation session. Two area’s are forbidden for divers: north of Boca Kayon to Boca Slagbaai and west of Karpata. Popular dive spots are regularly closed to relieve the coral and give it a chance to recuperate. Most hotels and resorts are in or close to the capital city Kralendijk

Diving Los Jardines de la Reina
South of Ciego de Avila, about 80 km from the shore, lie 250 uninhabited coral islands, like a 160 km long strand of pearls. Los Jardines de la Reina, or “the Queen’s garden”, is a nature reserve. Entrance to the reserve is limited and fishing is forbidden. There are more than 60 unspoilt dive spots, where there is not a soul to see. Here marine life abounds, to name just a few: silky-, black tip- and bullhead sharks. A large part of the reserve is undiscovered.

About Varadero
Varadero welcomed the first tourists around 1870 and became known as the largest seaside resort in the Caribbean. Many famous people have holidayed here, including Mafia boss Al Capone. Varadero is also known as Playa Azul (blue beach). The beach, more than 20km long, is actually white. Varadero lies approximately 140km east of Havana, on the Hicacos Peninsula.
