About Drake Bay
Drake Bay – also known as Bahia Drake – lies at the northern point of the Osa peninsula in the southwest of Costa Rica. The large part of this peninsula is made out of ecological reserves, under which National Park Corcovado. The most common way to reach Drake Bay is by boat. It will take you over the river from the town of Sierpe to Drake Bay. Another option is to take a ride in a Landrover from Puerto Jiménez. Most hotels in Drake are eco lodges where you can buy a package deal for several days.

Playa del Coco

About Playa del Coco
One of the biggest reasons for the popularity of this beach in Guanacaste, is its accessibility. Whereas many places in Costa Rica are difficult to reach, Playa del Coco is close to an international airport (Liberia) and has paved roads with bus services from San Jose. The hills are filled with hotels and shacks and at night there is plenty going on in the little town.

Diving at Playa del Coco

The area is an ecological goldmine with huge forests, volcanoes and an enormous amount of wild animal species. In the city of Liberia there’s an international airport that hosts flights from all over the world, but of course mostly from the US.

Alor

About Alor
Alor is an archipelago to the north of Timor. The road over land to the dive spots is very difficult but especially interesting. The trip takes in hilly terrain, where isolated tribes each have their own culture and language. The dive spots are ultimately reached by motor boat. The erratic coastline makes navigation difficult. The area can be experienced mainly by live aboard.

Famous archipelago
The islands became permanently inhabited after about 1910, mainly by fishermen and agrarians. Currently they have a population of about 22,000 and this is ever increasing, due to natural population growth and immigration. The standard of living is higher on the islands than on mainland Ecuador. The major sources of income are tourism and fishing.

About La Paz
The town of La Paz lies on the west coast of the Baja California Peninsula, in a large bay in the Sea of Cortez. Tourism is an important source of income, yet the inhabitants do their best to preserve the old traditions. The restaurants and bars in the town are frequented by the locals as well as the tourists. The most beautiful beaches are to the north of La Paz, with both long sandy beaches and small inlets. You can fly to either Mexico City or Guadalajara, from whence it is still a 2 to 3 hour flight to La Paz.

Up and Coming Tourism
Ponta do Ouro, a thriving town by Mozambican standards, lies in the south of Mozambique on the border with South Africa. Since 1994, in the aftermath of civil war, the small town of Ponta do Ouro is finding increasing popularity as a tourist destination. There are a few hotels and restaurants, a bank and a campground. Due to its proximity to nearby Maputo (Mozambique) and Pretoria (South Africa), Ponta do Ouro is easily accessible.
